First African American SuperCouple returning to Daytime TV

Today is a very special day in ABC Daytime.  In a time when most African American actors are noticeably absent or background players ABC is resurrecting the first and thus far only African American supercouple in soap history Angie and Jessie Hubbard on All My Children. Angie and Jessie are portrayed by the incredibly talented Debbie Morgan and Darnell Williams respectively.  They brought to life characters that were good and positive reflections in African Americans especially on Daytime at a time when there were few.

My fervent hope with their return is that it will be a quality storyline and quality writing as that has been lacking greatly in ABC Daytime for quite awhile now.

Brand New Music in my sphere…sort of

I checked out One Tree Hill’s 2 hour season premiere.  I admit I’m a huge fan of the show. Besides the charactre drama it features great music from a multitude of genres. Tonight’s episodes featured some awesome music from Jimmy Eat World, Jackson Waters, Group One Crew and others. This is a show that has made huge strides for independent artists and those already established but not necessarily getting heavy rotation on Top 40. Their use of Gavin DeGraw’s “I Don’t Wanna Be” skyrockted him too the forefront. They’re only the second show ever to be given permission to use a Led Zeppelin song in one of their episodes. They’ve had artists like Fall Out Boy, Lupe Fiasco and Jack’s Mannequin perform. If you go to One Tree Hill Music you can see a list of every single song ever used on the show including for the current 5th season.

Also I ahve to say I am loving, loving, loving Mary J. Bliges “Growing Pains” album, it’s soongs are currently on heavy rotation. My favorites are definetely “Roses, Just Fine, Work That, Grown Woman,Shake Down, Mirror and Nowhere Fast(last two are i-Tunes pre-order bonus tracks)

Interracial Love and more

R& B singer Robin Thicke will be featured on urban entertainment channel TVOne’sTV One on One“  this Sunday at 10 pm est. He will be discussing his interracial relationship with wife, actress Paula Patton. Check your local cable company for it’s listing.

For all the old school *Nsync fans and JC Chasez fans out there JC is guest starring on Las Vegas tonight as the character Piper’s ex-boyfriend. Hopefully I’ll get screencaps or video up. Personally I think as a singer he’s never gotten his due.  He has an amazing voice with great range.

What an idiot!

First let me say I doubt I’ll be making to many comments on here about Britney Spears as  it would be pretty redundant since so is everyone else. But today her lawyers have said they are dropping her as their client due to a “breakdown of communication.”  Look this trick has become a basket case who obviously thinks she knows everything she can do whatever she wants because she feels like it. The problem with that is she has two children who depend on her and considering K-Fed’s record I feel really bad for the kids as he’s pretty much the lesser of two evils. But he’s going to do what he has to do because custody equals a payout he otherwise would never see.

The judge in this case if you ask me has been more than kind I think for two reasons. 1) Because she’s their mother and judges generally don’t like to separate kids from their mothers 2) Because she’s a celebrity so that means alot of attention.

She’s the type of person who obviously needs to fall on their a**. She’s kinda like an addict who you’ve tried and tried to do numerous interventions for and they just don’t get it. She has to bottom out completely before she wakes up. If you ask me her demise began when she and Justin broke up. Now before you jump down my throat let me say he’s NOT responsible for her behaviour but for whatever their relationship was he seemed to ground her because since then she’s turned to acting nasty ass trashy.

Her problems really don’t equate to diddly squat. If she wants problems she can try having my life or thousands of other people who have it hard. She’s creating her problems. So therefore she doesn’t have my sympathy but my contempt. Don’t create issues then whine and piss about them. You made your bed now lie in it.

Happy New Year!

Well we are officially in 2008 and already things are off to a bang. I was listening to the radio this morning as I sometimes do and a woman had written in to the radio sation to ask for advice about her fiance. He is black and she is white. She lives with him with her three children from previous relationships. The eldest is 15 and white and the two younger are half black. Now after lauding him in the early portion she states that the problem is that she is in an interracial relationship. Well stop me right there and call me stupid but “the problem“. How in the hell is that a problem? No one forced her to be in an interracial relationship and if she thinks it’s a problem maybe she shouldn’t be in one.

Well she goes on to state that she doesn’t like the fact that he criticizes in a joking manner the children about their weight and makes comments about white people. The children are overweight. She wanted to know how to bring up the issue with him as the children at times complain to her about his comments. That if you ask me shouldn’t even be in question as to how she should discuss it with him in my mind. Just one night before they retire for bed she say to him look “Honey, I know how much you care about the kids but I don’t want you to make jokes about the kids weight anymore. I know you only say it as a joke but they’re kids and their feeliongs are easily hurt.” As far as the racial comments she has to understand that if he can’t vent his frustrations about the people arounnd him black or white then they have a problem. She could just let him know that she doens’t want him to vent those frustrations in front of the kids and that she’s willing to listen. Depending upon a persons environment  and situation being in an interracial relationship can be tricky because let’s be real each race or culture I don’t care who they are have their own bit of racism. Each race discusses things that happen on the job or wherever that they may feel race played a part and sometimes people when they get into interracial relationships feel like they can’t discuss those things because they feel like they’ll hurt the others feelings. If you’re going to make it I say you better get over that quick. Because what’s going to happen is all those unspoken words will build up and if you just really feel like you cannnot discuss with your partner I suggest you ahve a group of friends that you can get that out to before you go home yo our mate.

My question is this what the hell is she feeding her kids and why if she sees that her children are overweight especially when unless it’s medical no young child should be, doesn’t she examine what she’s feeding them and make it paramount that they do something physical at least 3 days a week with the kids. My nephew is only 8 but he understands the importance of physical activity without anyone even having to tell him so he’s always active. Of course he’s also so naturally thin he could hula hoop through a cheerio but still he gets it.

It is up to parents to make sure that their children are healthy as they possibly can be. Speaking of healthy people stop being lazy and using a microwave. You may think it’s healthy but you’re sadly mistaken. Think of it this way if when you go to the doctor for an X-ray the but the little vest on you to protect you from radiation why would you think eating microwaved food is healthy when you’re getting no protection at all, especially if you eat it everyday.
